Grape Seed Extract

200mg

≥95% OPCs - among the most potent antioxidants by ORAC. Supports endothelial function via the nitric oxide pathway. Synergises with Pine Bark Extract in this formula via the shared NO pathway.

Category Cardiovascular
Dose 200mg
Form ≥95% OPCs - MegaNatural-BP or equivalent
Evidence Level Moderate-Strong - multiple human trials

Mechanism

Grape seed extract is standardised for oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs) - a class of condensed flavonoid polymers with among the highest antioxidant capacity measured by ORAC. OPCs support endothelial function by protecting nitric oxide from oxidative degradation by superoxide radicals, increasing NO bioavailability for vasodilation.

A 2011 meta-analysis of 9 RCTs found that GSE supplementation significantly reduced both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, with the largest effects in younger and metabolically dysregulated subjects. The OPC mechanism complements and synergises with pine bark procyanidins - both act on the same endothelial NO pathway.

Key Benefits

  • Among the highest ORAC values of any plant compound
  • Protects NO from superoxide degradation
  • Standardised to ≥95% OPCs by UV-Vis
  • Synergistic with Pine Bark Extract (shared NO pathway)
  • ≥95% OPC standardisation for consistent potency
